1. Copy the video link. In the TikTok app, tap Share and then Copy link. On a computer, copy the address from your browser’s address bar. (There’s more detail on this below.)
2. Paste it into the box at the top of this page. On a phone, long-press the field and choose Paste. On a computer, click the field and press Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac).
3. Check the preview. The tool fetches the video and shows its thumbnail and title, so you can confirm you’ve got the right clip before you download anything.

How to Copy a TikTok Link on Any Device

Most failed downloads come down to a copied link that’s wrong or incomplete. Here’s how to get a clean link on each platform.

On the TikTok app for Android

Open the video and tap the Share arrow on the right side of the screen. In the share panel, scroll the bottom row and tap Copy link. A short message confirms the link is on your clipboard. Now open Chrome, Samsung Internet or any other browser, come back to this page and paste the link into the downloader.

The copied link usually looks like https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMabc123/. That’s a normal TikTok short link, and the tool accepts it as is. You don’t have to open it first to get the long address.

On the TikTok app for iPhone and iPad

The steps on iOS are almost the same. Tap Share, then Copy link. Open Safari (or Chrome, if that’s what you use), go to savetovideo.net, tap the input box and choose Paste. If iOS asks whether Safari can paste from TikTok, tap Allow Paste.

About vm.tiktok.com and other short links

TikTok shares links in a few formats: the full tiktok.com/@user/video/… address, short vm.tiktok.com links, and vt.tiktok.com or tiktok.com/t/… links, depending on the app version and region. They all redirect to the same video, and the downloader resolves the redirect for you. If a short link fails, open it in your browser, wait for the full video page to load, and copy that longer address instead.

When you use TikTok’s own “Save video” button, the app adds the bouncing TikTok logo and the creator’s username to the file. What TikTok Content Can You Download?

Regular TikTok videos

Photo slideshows (photo mode posts)

TikTok photo mode posts are a special case. On screen they look like a video, but they’re really a set of still images with a soundtrack played over them, and there’s often no single MP4 file behind them. So the downloader may not be able to produce a video file for a slideshow, or it may only return some of what you see in the app. If a slideshow link won’t process, that’s the reason. It isn’t a problem with your device.

Sounds and music

Every MP4 you download includes the video’s original audio track, so the sound comes along with the clip. A TikTok sound page (the page that lists every video using a particular song) isn’t a video, though, and pasting that link won’t work. Open one of the videos that uses the sound and copy that video’s link instead. Keep in mind that many TikTok sounds are commercial music, which is copyrighted separately from the video.

Content the tool cannot access

Private accounts, “Friends only” videos, deleted posts, videos blocked in a region, and TikTok LIVE streams can’t be downloaded. The tool only sees what a logged-out visitor would see, and it never tries to get around privacy settings.

Save TikTok Video to Your Gallery on Android and iPhone

Downloading a file and getting it into your photo library aren’t always the same step, especially on iPhone. The Save to Gallery button closes that gap.

Android

On Android, a downloaded MP4 goes to your Downloads folder. iPhone and iPad

On iOS, Safari saves downloads to the Files app (in On My iPhone > Downloads or in iCloud Drive) rather than to Photos. To get the video into Photos, tap Save to Gallery after the download finishes. The iOS share sheet opens. Choose Save Video and the clip goes straight into your Photos library. You can then edit it, add it to an album or share it like any other video.

If you’ve already downloaded it the regular way, open the Files app, find the MP4, tap the share icon, and choose Save Video. You’ll end up in the same place.

Download History and Sharing

Every video you save is added to your Download History page. It’s a handy way to find a clip again, see what you downloaded yesterday, or grab a file a second time without searching TikTok.

That history is stored only in your own browser, on your own device. It isn’t uploaded to our servers or linked to an account, since there aren’t any accounts. It’s cleared if you clear your browser data, and you can wipe it yourself from the history page with one tap. Because it’s stored per browser, your phone and your laptop keep separate lists.

The share buttons next to each result let you send a link to WhatsApp, Facebook, X or Telegram, or copy it to paste somewhere else. That’s useful when you want to point a friend to a clip rather than send them a large file.

Troubleshooting: Why a TikTok Download Fails and How to Fix It

Most problems have a simple cause. Work through the ones that match what you’re seeing.

“Invalid link” or nothing happens

Make sure you copied a video link, not a profile, hashtag or sound page. Check for stray text too. Sometimes the app copies a sentence such as “Check out this video” along with the URL. Delete everything except the link that starts with https:// and try again.

The video is private or unavailable

If the creator has a private account, limited the video to friends, or deleted it, the tool can’t reach it. Try opening the link in a private browser window where you’re not logged in. If you can’t watch it there, it can’t be downloaded.

The short link will not resolve

Now and then a vm.tiktok.com link expires or points to a region-specific page. Open it in your browser, let it redirect, then copy the full tiktok.com/@user/video/… address from the address bar and paste that instead.

The download starts but the file will not play

Usually the download was interrupted. Check that the file size isn’t just a few kilobytes, then download it again on a stable connection. On older Android phones, try a different video player such as VLC. On a computer, make sure your browser isn’t blocking the download (check the downloads icon near the address bar).

The video plays but has no sound

Some creators publish silent videos, and TikTok sometimes mutes a clip when a copyrighted song is removed. If the original has no audio in the app either, the download won’t have any. If the original does have sound, try downloading a different version from the list.

On iPhone, the video is not in Photos

Safari saves to the Files app by default. Use the Save to Gallery button and choose Save Video, or move the file from Files as explained above. If Save Video doesn’t show up, make sure the download has finished completely first.

The photo slideshow will not download

As covered earlier, photo mode posts are image sets, not video files, so they may not convert to MP4. That’s a limitation of how those posts are built, and it can’t be fixed on your end.

It worked before but fails today

TikTok changes its website from time to time, and that can temporarily affect downloaders. Refresh the page, clear your browser cache and try again a little later. Recent videos from popular accounts normally work again soon after.
