iPhone and iPad

Desktop

Most downloads go through without a hitch, but social platforms change often and links can be tricky. Here are the problems people run into most, and how to fix them.

“Invalid link” or nothing happens

Check that you copied the link of a single post and not a profile, a search page or your home timeline. A working link contains “/status/” followed by a number. If you copied text from a message, make sure nothing extra came along with it, such as a space or a line of text before the address.

The post is from a protected account

If the account has a lock icon next to its name, its posts are only visible to approved followers. The tool cannot access those videos, and that is by design. Only public posts can be downloaded.

“No video found” on a post that clearly has one

There are a few possible causes. The post may be a quote post, and the video actually lives in the quoted post, so open that one and copy its link instead. The video may be embedded from another website through a link preview rather than uploaded to X. Or the post may be marked as sensitive, which can block access. Try a different post to confirm the tool is working, then revisit the original.

The post was deleted or the account was suspended

If the post no longer loads on X itself, there is nothing left for any downloader to fetch. Open the link in your browser to check whether it still exists.

The download starts but the video only plays in the browser

Some desktop browsers open MP4 files in a new tab instead of saving them. If that happens, right-click the video and choose “Save video as”, or on a Mac, use the three-dot menu in the video player. On phones, use the “Save to Gallery” button instead of the plain download link.

The video is saved but I cannot find it

On Android, look in the Downloads folder using the Files app, or in your gallery’s Downloads album. On iPhone, open the Files app and check Downloads if you did not use “Save to Gallery”. On a computer, check your browser’s download list.

The quality is lower than expected

Make sure you selected the top option in the list rather than the first one you saw. If the highest option is still low, that is the best version X has for that video. Re-uploads of re-uploads often lose quality along the way, so look for the original post if you can.
